Onshore, several depleted gas field have been transformed for re-use as underground gas storage facilities. Typically, these are filled during the low demand periods in the summer season in order to meet peak demand periods in the winter. Today, gas is being stored at four underground gas storage locations in depleted gas fields: Norg (1997), Grijpskerk (1997), Alkmaar (1997) and Bergermeer (2015). Together they have a storage capacity of 14 billion cubic meters of gas.

15 Offshore platforms have been fully or partially relocated and re-used for the development of other fields. In addition, one more platform (F3-FA) is waiting for re-use.
